Since the 1930s, thanks to FDR’s New Deal, American liberalism has transformed; a re-birthing if you will, that today, institutes a way of thinking that illustrates that government knows best. Today’s liberal mentality focuses on a public perception that government should involve itself in every societal matter. According to Richard M. Ebeling, BB&T Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Free Enterprise Leadership at The Citadel, in Charleston, South Carolina, today’s America has reached the point where there is little that goes on in production that government is not involved. Also, Ebeling states that the buying and selling, and the consumption of virtually any good or service offered on the market entails oversight, approval, dictate, prohibition, or control by some branch and level of government.
As we are under 500 days until the 2020 Presidential Election I believe the time is now for our country to know what truly makes up today’s American Liberal. What is in their DNA? What makes them tick? We should examine their reconstituted and regurgitated policies – why they are doomed to fail, and why this country cannot merely financially or spiritually afford for Bolshevik Bernie, Pocahontas Warren or Kamala and the Gang to ever step foot in the Oval Office. It is imperative that today’s voters dive DEEP into the psyche of the “Crazed 23,” only then can they begin to understand the unrealistic and unattainable promises that are blazing across this country and that are putting the world’s greatest democracy on a collision course with Communism!
The Liberty Loft has been ever watchful of the recent “Liberal Lies” – from Bernie’s 33-trillion dollar “Medicare for All” and “Free College to All,” to Warren’s “Reparations for Minorities,” Americans are being force-fed government FREE THIS and FREE THAT. However, all of these falsehoods go against the basic building blocks of democracy. Today’s Liberals are united in their efforts to systematically shape our country into these United Socialist States of America.
Now, let’s begin our dissection and dive right into the deceit of the Democratic Party and the NEW LEFT. Today’s Liberal can be classified as a re-birthed Hippie of the 1960s and 70s; however, instead of “Free Love,” today’s liberal movement has concentrated on the battles of LBGTQ rights, “Black Lives Matter,” “Me Too,” and of course Free Healthcare, Free Housing, Free Food and, Free Education. These efforts all the while, obscure democracy and deceive the American people into thinking that all of their wants and desires are entitled rights, and not just merely privileges. Here arises the MYTH of modern-day liberalism – despite their obscure advertising efforts, Americans need to know that nothing in this world if free! However, the Liberal-Left has (and crafty I may add) painted this beautiful picture of being able to bankroll every human desire in pretty packaging; pandering to every demographic that government can be everything to everybody!
No matter how Liberals sell their message, their plight is merely socialistic, whereby (they) deem private property as a limitation to productivity. According to socialists, private ownership imposes constraints on planning, leading to uncoordinated economic decisions that result in business fluctuations, unemployment, and a tremendous waste of material resources during crisis of overproduction. However, fundamental economic thought allows for and encourages healthy competition – sure there will be fluctuations and waste, that is a result of an open market. However, let us look at the waste that our current government both generates and endorses.
The U.S. Federal Budget for FY 2020 is $4.7 trillion. That’s $2.8 trillion in mandatory spending which includes Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. There’s $1.4 trillion in discretionary spending that includes Defense, Education, and Energy. Interest payment on the national debt is $479 billion. According to the Office of Personnel Management, the federal workforce is an estimated 2.1 million full-time employees, excluding Postal Service workers. In 2018 wages and benefits for executive branch civilian workers cost $279 billion alone! Since the 1990s, federal workers have enjoyed faster compensation growth than private-sector workers. In 2017 federal workers earned 79 percent more, on average, than private-sector workers. And federal workers gained 43 percent more, on average, than state and local government workers. The federal government has become an elite island of secure and high-paid employment separated from the ocean of average Americans competing in the economy.
In 2017 federal civilian workers had an average wage of $90,794, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). By comparison, the average salary for the nation’s 116 million private-sector workers was $61,311. Figure 1 shows that average federal wages grew rapidly for a decade, then slowed during the partial pay freeze, and they have risen again in recent years.
When benefits such as health care and pensions are included, the federal compensation advantage over private workers is even more significant, according to the BEA data. In 2017 total federal compensation averaged $130,429 or 79 percent more than the private-sector average of $72,992, as shown in Figure 2.
So, let’s sum this up. As Americans, we are to entrust in government to complete jobs and tasks that can be achieved without their assistance or input – and compensate them 79 percent more? Furthermore, as the “Crazed 23” are out polluting our population with Oprah-type gifts of grander, as responsible people, we need to understand that every gift ultimately costs someone. The government doesn’t have any money – they are not an entity that creates or produces anything other than legislation (and debt). In a representative democracy, the people make decisions – and as a people, we must make the right choices. As is indicated above, of course, the liberals want government involved in every aspect of daily life – they want to expand on role and neatly package it to the American people as a God-given right. Entitlements cost people; the proof is the current waste – imagine the Democratic dump that could be in store for our nation if we would tack on “Free Education, Healthcare, and Reparations for Minorities.”
Plain and simple, we can’t handle what we have. The federal government is and has been more significant, overreaching, and overbearing than what our Founding Fathers ever envisioned. Long are the days where Our Framers wrote that our government was to protect, legislate, and defend its citizens. Today, Liberal Lunacy has run rampant and encrusted entitlements as the main entree at every dinner table across the country. This populous pandering is dangerous…our nation is being slowly poisoned – personal and financial accountability is the antidote! As the world’s GREATEST democracy, we deserve better than what the Democrats are DEVILing out. As for me, in my United States, my flag’s stars come with stripes, not a hammer and sickle! I will never swear allegiance to the affirmation of apathy and presume that it is my right to receive all at the cost of someone else.
