According to a recent article, constituents from representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’ district in New York are not exactly receiving the representation they expect. According to the New York Post, multiple calls were made to various representative offices that represent districts across New York City. All of those calls were answered in various offices, except for AOC’s office.
The Post stated that AOC is using phone screening software that is accessible to house representatives, yet most high profile reps are using staff to answer phones. Those using staff, include Jerry Nadler and Nancy Pelosi. Yet, AOC feels that she is more important than those and needs to direct callers away from her staff.
With the software, most callers are directed to the representatives website. The calls are blocked from callers outside of NYC and Washington DC area codes. This ignores the fact that a caller could have a phone number from outside the area if they have relocated, but that wouldn’t matter to the elitist AOC.
AOC is more concerned with aligning herself with larger national profile individuals rather than caring for her constituents. A quick scroll through her Twitter profile shows that AOC is more concerned with national profile. She seems to only comment about her district whenever congress is out of session. The rest of the time, her profile includes tweets like the one below.
Folks may want to read extra deep into this, but I say this simply to acknowledge the courage it takes to make a statement like this.
From Warren to Castro to Bernie & others, we are lucky to have the leadership bench we have right now. We should praise all their great moments!

Why would AOC be focused on everything but her constituents? Well, it could have something to do with what Nancy Pelosi called out several weeks ago. Anyone with a D beside their name could win her district as it is heavily Democratic. But AOC should have some concerns if you look big picture.
Specifically, AOC should have two concerns. One is the potential elimination of her district, as I have discussed previously. She could lose her seat with redistricting. The second is that her constituents do not feel supported and could vote her out of office, which also appears likely if the seat remains.
If the representative continues to ignore those people who voted to put her into office, she will face problems. She’s a polarizing figure in the national Democratic Party. She will only remain in office if she turns her focus to her constituents instead of her own personal status.
