The hyped CNN Climate Town Hall event was a total failure, according to recent viewer data released. CNN finished last among the 3 cable news stations, with both MSNBC and Fox News holding regular programming. While the viewers were an increase for CNN, it still places it far behind the other channels.
There are a couple take away from the event. First of all, people may be concerned about taking care of the environment, but they are not interested in what the Democrats are selling. The Green New Deal and other initiatives are simply not popular across the board. The radical ideas of Democrats regarding climate change and environmental controls are not popular even with their own base.
Secondly, CNN is still a horrible channel out of touch with society. Given a chance to interact with the top 10 presidential candidates, the best CNN could do was a pathetic climate town hall. CNN has driven Democrats and Republicans alike away.
The only positive thing CNN had was displaying Joe Biden’s bloody eye, which continues to drive questions regarding his personal health. The media and Biden campaign pushed the narrative that there was nothing wrong, but the fact is that the age of these candidates (including Trump) is causing questions for some of those young voters that the Democrats are courting.
Lastly, it’s easy to see that the Democrats are not concerned with addressing any of the issues that are facing our nation. Democrats continue to pander to special interests, rather than focusing on things that truly matter. They are more concerned about beating Trump, than actually addressing immigration, homelessness, poverty or any other issue that they claim to be passionate about.
Our country has issues, issues that the media could help push narratives and drive change. Instead, horrible media companies such as CNN waste a great opportunity to drive this discussion. They are simply more interested in the special interests than true issues. It’s time to get back to what matters in this country and that is not wasting time on climate town halls.
