Over the past few months, I have made comments several times that as the Democratic candidates continue to move further left, it benefits Trump. Joe Biden has claimed many of the far left positions and we already knew where Sanders and Warren stood. Others, such as Harris, Buttigieg and O’Rourke, have all claimed radical positions on hot topics.
A recent IBD-TIPP poll shows that independents are moving towards President Trump, just as I predicted. The Hill has a great summary talking about the poll. President Trump leads Warren by 6 points, Sanders by 4 points, and trails Biden by 1 point with Independents. This should be alarming for Democrats as they continue to push their radical candidates. Maybe this is why party leaders are imploring Michelle Obama to run.
I have commented multiple times that Biden represented the best chance for Democrats to defeat President Trump. The poll shows that Biden maintains a 7 point lead over Trump, however this is down from 12 points just a month ago. The poll shows Warren up by 2 points, well within the 3.3% margin of error.
I think President Trump will find this poll encouraging with other information it contains. In the poll, it shows his approval rating up to 43%, from 39%, even though this poll was taken after the Ukraine story broke. So, in the heat of an impeachment battle, President Trump is becoming more popular. Why? Because Biden is losing popularity and the radical left scare those independents.
Other key information is that this poll was conducted during the time Sanders heart issues came out. No doubt this has caused his support to drop to 10%. Buttigieg was the only other candidate to register support over 3% at 7%. So Biden is falling fast, Warren has surged into the lead and this race appears hers to lose.
Which is great for President Trump. His approval rating is rising and the races are tightening as the front runners are coming into view for the Democratic nomination. Independents are not happy with the Democratic radicals. With Elizabeth Warren emerging as the favorite, it puts President Trump in the drivers position since most recent polls have this falling at or in the margin of error.
Sure, President Trump may be concerned about impeachment. I understand that it may be difficult to accept and that he wants to protect his legacy. I believe his legacy will be that of a 2 term President based on how things look right now. In the end, it appears that impeachment may be the only option that Democrats have in order to try to win back the presidency in 2020.
