Earlier today, the House of Representatives voted on the impeachment inquiry resolution proposed by Democrats. The vote was on a resolution that was completely drafted by Democrats. Republicans were seeking modifications to the resolution, but all requests were denied.
The vote was held just before lunch time in Washington and split along party lines, with two Democrats joining Republicans to vote against impeachment. This is a change from the past in which impeachment proceedings were bipartisan. Clinton’s impeachment inquiry included bipartisan support for the inquiry procedures.
Democrats should now move much of their investigations into the public eye. It does not mandate this, however. Many of the current investigations will continue in their same format. White House attorneys will not be allowed to cross examine every witness in all circumstances. We’ve talked about the resolution in previous articles.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes there is already enough evidence to move forward with impeachment of President Trump. Democrats will investigate Trump through these investigations, then move toward drafting articles of impeachment, if they determine to do so. I fully expect they will draft and pass articles of impeachment very quickly.
So what is next for Republicans? There is no expectation of conviction in the Senate. Republicans must continue to call out the inconsistencies of Democrats and the partisan nature of the investigation. They must also call out any lack of evidence to completely prove Trump committed a crime.
There’s also another thing that Republicans must focus on, which is the plan Democrats have for our country. The Republicans must educate the American public. Sure, you can vote to impeach Trump, but giving Democrats the power is guaranteeing our country falls into communism.
Just read the news, Medicare for All is predicted to cut 2 million jobs. We’ve discussed the inability of Democrats to pay for their plans. Latest reports indicate that Democrats are considering a 42% national sales tax to pay for programs. This is in addition to the multiple other tax plans proposed.
I will be the first one to say, if Trump is proven to have committed a crime he should be impeached. So far, the transcript nor the evidence produced shows any crime is committed. Above the President Trump issue, we absolutely cannot afford this communism that Democrats are proposing.
Supporting this level of communism would absolutely destroy our economy. Millions of people unemployed and dependent on the government for salaries. Democrats want government to have the ability to take over and run businesses. They want to remove religious freedoms and freedom of speech. This is not the American way, it’s the way of those who are power hungry and want to create a divide between the haves and have nots.
We must take a stand against the agenda of Democrats. They are going to proceed with impeachment no matter what. Republicans need to stand firm and only address issues and the facts of the case. In the end, we must make sure that Americans know that everything we love about freedom will disappear if the Democrats have their way.
