On Sunday, Democrats and Republicans alike made their rounds on the Sunday media circuit. Republicans stuck with their talking points. Democrats have some interesting statements that we can look at a little closer.
Specifically, Rep. Jerry Nadler said that the impeachment was an urgent matter. He accused President Trump of potentially rigging the 2020 election if he was not impeached. Of course, this feeds off the lies that they have been pitching about how Trump was illegitimate since 2016.
Continuing along the same story line, Nadler actually said that there was “no time to waste” waiting on others to testify. We have heard this type of language before from the Democrats. Remember back in the Obama administration when there was no time to wait for anything? It’s just the Democrats motto.
The focus is President Trump and quick elimination. I discussed this on the podcast this week in depth. The House will impeach President Trump. The focus is on the Senate, as there is a coming showdown. I discussed Jerry Nadler and some of his past comments. Below is an excerpt of some of the statements.
Either way you look at it, the Senate trial could be bad for Democrats. The House is going to vote to impeach Trump by Christmas according to Nancy Pelosi. They will pass the articles of impeachment completely on party lines just as they did to open the inquiry. I think back to the statement by the Rep. from Ohio to Rep. Nadler. In the 90’s, Nadler suggested that if impeachment was only favored by one party, then it should never be pursued at all. My how times hav changed. It’s never a good idea to pursue impeachment if you like the person. But if you hate the President, well by all means pull out all of the stops.
We all know how this fails miserably in the Senate. The potential additional investigations should be the concern for Democrats. I see trouble on the horizon for Biden. Former President Obama has shown hesitancy to jump out and support anyone in the race. Unless he comes to the support of Biden in the situation with his son, Biden may be left out by his own party. So who is the biggest winner in all this? Well for once I think President Trump. As he comes through this, if these other investigations start, he has definitely secured an additional 4 years as President. He will be hated by Democrats, but Republicans continue to support him and with a couple bad investigations, Independents will abandon Democrats. Democrats have made promises multiple times and failed to deliver on addressing Trump.
