It appears that Senate Democrats have had enough of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Enough of her games at least anyway. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats indicate that the time has come to begin the impeachment trial of President Trump. This comes after reports from Senator Mitch McConnell, who says the Republicans have the votes to proceed without the Democrats.
Democrats like Dianne Feinstein made statements such as, if it’s urgent send them over. The general consensus is that the longer the House delays, the less urgent the impeachment seems. Isn’t this what Republicans have said all along? Republicans quickly called for the transmitting of the articles since Democrats insisted impeachment was urgent.
This is nothing that surprises us from Democrats. Everything that they do is hurried. But another thing to note here is the fact that the Republicans called this early on. They openly said that if it is urgent, the trial should start quickly. Yet, the Democrats delayed proving Republicans right again.
The article by Politico says that the Democrats in the House are still behind Pelosi. The statement was that they believe she has a plan, even if it isn’t clear. We all know about the Democrats plans. They have plans for everything, except anything that actually benefits Americans.
The delay in the trial also causes concerns for the candidates running for President. The House proceedings should have shown Nancy Pelosi that a few snippets in the news here and there did not benefit them politically. In fact, most people have already forgotten the statements by Democrats in the hearings. They were simply repeating talking points.
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver also made a statement that is worth noting. He commented about Iran and all the situation from that over the past couple of weeks. His exact statement, “Impeachment seems so yesterday.” His comments are exactly right. The excitement over impeachment has faded and American’s have grown tired of the rhetoric.
Democrats never won over the American people. They won the Democratic support and some moderate support, but they could not convince any Republicans. It sounds like Pelosi did not work with the Senate on her game plan to hold the articles. Ultimately, Pelosi failed in this attempt to force her will and now it appears McConnell will have his chance to acquit President Trump.
