Puerto Rico has been struggling for several years now. We all know about the hurricane from 2017 that devastated the island. The left and media went crazy criticizing Trump for delaying relief. If you do an internet search, there are articles dating back to the time of the Hurricane and even as recently as the last couple days.
But the left may not have as much of a story after recent events. Unfortunately, devastating earthquakes have again caused issues for Puerto Rico. The wonderful island is struggling and needs help. As they start going through buildings to assess damages, a warehouse full of hurricane relief supplies was found. Add this to the other supplies found in 2018 after baking in the sun for months.
The Governor of Puerto Rico has fired several involved in the delay in release of the supplies. Or should I say refusal to release supplies. Island leaders blamed Trump and his administration for delays in supplies and resources following the event. Trump has stood up to the charges and called them inaccurate. Now it seems he may have been correct.
Puerto Rico was under the leadership of former governor Ricardo Rossello during the aftermath of the hurricane. If you recall, Rossello was forced to resign after weeks of protests involving a scandal within his administration. He was accused of using sexist, homophobic and other offensive language in text messaging among his administration officials.
It’s no secret that Rossello and President Trump were at odds. The two battled publicly for nearly 2 years until Rossello’s resignation. It’s also obvious that Rossello was not the most honest or upstanding individual himself. So why the delay in releasing the supplies?
We will have to wait until after the official investigation, but I believe there is some insight into this. Democrats were pushing for more aid to be released to Puerto Rico. While both the Republicans and Democrats have indicated some support of statehood, the media and left are pushing hardest for this. Why? I think it can be summed up with this article which talks about control.
The idea is that if Democrats can push for statehood for Washington DC and for Puerto Rico, then they could control the Senate. Democrats have been lobbying in Puerto Rico for support for years now. They have spent lavishly on events and enjoyed time with celebrities and locals alike on the island.
Is it really surprising that this is about control for the Democrats? I would be surprised if there is not some form of corruption found in a Democratic plan here. Democrats will try to cover it up and the press certainly seems to be trying to ignore this finding in Puerto Rico. They are more interested in covering the protests in Richmond. I’ll be very interested to see what comes out of this investigation in the coming days.
