At The Liberty Loft, we always love to partner with people and the submission below is no different. Arielle Chambers is a friend of ours from North Carolina and is the National Director for Outreach and Partnership for Blexit. Below, she shares information about a recent event and some great happenings with the organization.
I am truly honored to be a part of this incredible publication. I have been a fan for a LONG time and I am so excited to share my thoughts with all of you. My name is Arielle and I am from North Carolina. I have been a conservative my entire life. I am also bi-racial (that is relevant I promise). I am the National Director for Outreach and Partnership for a non-profit organization called Blexit, a grassroots conservative movement.
On January 19th, in Charlotte, NC, there was a large gathering of conservatives that largely went unnoticed. Blexit, founded by Candace Owens, hosted a rally featuring prominent speakers such as Larry Elder, candidates like Mark Robinson, activists like KingFace and Brandon Tatum and social media stars like Will Witt. Over 1200 people, mostly black, showed up to support conservative values in a largely liberal city. Why was it unnoticed? I believe it was for two reasons: 1- The left is scared and 2- the right is scared.
Blexit, for those who don’t know is short for the ‘black exit’ from the left. Recent history shows that black individuals disproportionately vote for liberal candidates. 88% of the vote went to Hillary Clinton in the last election and a whopping 95% for then candidate Barack Obama in 2008. However, liberal policies have shown to not help African American communities. People like Candace Owens, and myself, started speaking out against voting blindly across party lines in the Black community.
Candace Owens took her opinions to YouTube and eventually to Capital Hill where she has amassed a huge following of like minded minorities. She and fellow activist, Brandon Tatum, founded the Blexit organization and they took their message nationwide. By the end of 2019 the first state chapter, North Carolina, was formed. From there, 4 more chapters have opened: South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Florida and 3 more are due to open soon!
Blexit has been able to grow so quickly due to amazing grass roots efforts and a commitment to its values. North Carolina State Directors, Danielle Robinson told Carolina Radio Journal that Blexit encourages blacks to “take a list of your values, look at what is important to you and if you find yourself not in alignment with what you know is important, there is a safe space to break away”.
Blexit seems like a movement here to stay as polls are putting black support of President Donald Trump anywhere from 10%-50%. Celebrities such as Kanye West have shown support for the Blexit movement. Candace Owens has almost one million followers on instagram and almost two million on Twitter. So how is it so unnoticed?
First: the left is scared. The North Carolina Democratic Party released a statement in response to an interview by NC State Director Danielle Robinson that said “Blexit is a fringe organization started by a far-right provocateur. It’s embarrassing any news outlet would lend credibility to this organization when they deserve none.” Fringe Organization? Right Wing Provocateur? Those are harsh statements. I believe the left is scared because they know they cannot lose much of the back vote. Without their support, they lose power.
Secondly: the right is scared… but not for the reason you may thing. White conservatives have been preyed upon by the elite left for a long time. They’ve been called racists, bigots and fascists and because of that they have detached themselves from conservative minority issues. I can say from experience, black conservatives are called names too- some much worse: Uncle Tom, coon, house nigger and sellouts. All for just being a black conservatives. Despite these harsh criticisms black conservatives are coming out in droves! It seems to almost fuel the fire within us. Race is not easy to talk about as a white conservative. I understand that fully. But I challenge white conservatives to step out of their comfort zones to support their fellow minority patriots. We are all Americans who largely hold the same values. If we are to help protect these values in America then we must stand together, defending one another against the intolerant left.
