COVID-19 is spreading across our nation, and it is killing our Constitution. For over two weeks, state and federal governments have enacted and advised legislation and recommendations to limit our right to assemble, education, religion, and yes, free enterprise. Schools and churches across the nation have closed. Americans can no longer gather in masses that exceed 10 people, and guns and ammunition have become scarce. Our national markets are plummeting. Food and essential items have fled from shelves. Elections are being delayed or postponed.
Utter fear has flooded the hearts and minds of Americans. State and federal government officials have threatened the use of martial law. The Constitution of the United States is under attack – our people are at war with more than just a virus – and they don’t even know it!
Our Right To Assemble
On Monday, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) urged the immediate halting nationwide of gatherings over 10 people. According to officials, these efforts “will significantly increase the pandemic’s disruption to U.S. public life for the next two months.” The CDC is taking guidance from the World Health Organization and following the actions of many European Union countries that have ordered immediate and nationwide lock downs and curfews of their countries. American’s right to assemble is SUSPENDED!
Our Right to Education
As of Monday morning, 29 states across the nation have announced the immediate closing of schools. Educators and parents are left scrambling to design alternative lesson plans and childcare options for children. For those kids who rely on school breakfast and lunch for daily sustenance, COVID-19 drastically increases their chances of prolonged hunger. American’s right to education is SUSPENDED!
Our Right to Practice Religion
In North Carolina and across the nation, due to CDC guidance on gatherings, churches, mosques, and synagogues have closed their doors indefinitely for worship services. American’s right to religion is SUSPENDED!
Our Right to Free Enterprise
State governments Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Washington, have violated American’s right to free enterprise by ordering that bars and restaurants immediately cease in-house dining. Such executive action of state governors is a direct violation against the capitalistic founding of our country. America’s legal framework recognizes and protects the private ownership of property. The right to own it, the right to use it, and the right to trade it away are all protected so long as the private owner does not infringe on the equal rights of other property owners. American’s right to free enterprise is SUSPENDED!
Our Right to Vote
Our nation’s right to vote is under attack. Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, and South Carolina have issued statements delaying primary elections for several weeks. It is without question that additional states will issue identical actions. No word on if any of these delays will have any bearing on the upcoming General Election in November. Most assuredly, federal courts and secretary of states across the nation will receive countless requests for voting recounts and extensions. American’s right to exercise their vote is SUSPENDED!
Our Right to Due Process
During Sunday’s Democratic Debate, both Sanders and Biden indicated their willingness to use the United States military in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Also, on Sunday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo pleaded for military assistance. The Sunday press conference was on-brand with one by Mayor Bill de Blasio held Saturday, in which he invoked a “wartime dynamic” with precautions against community spread.
It would seem that Democrats and the Liberal Left’s approach is to incorporate martial law among our country, something that has occurred rarely within the United States. Under the Constitution, only the President can invoke martial law on a federal basis. In each state, the governor has the right to impose martial law within the borders of the state. On Monday, New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy activated the National Guard and implemented a 8 p.m. curfew recommendation.
Article 1, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution states, “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.” American’s right to due process is in danger of being SUSPENDED!
Democrats and Liberal “fear mongers” have whipped our nation into a fearful frenzy – and now, they believe extreme measures need to occur. For THE LEFT, only the government can or should act. Our very liberties are being stripped away by a virus one-billionth our size. Trump must remain steadfast in his leadership – and not succumb to the political bantering of socialism as a remedy to public safety.
