Sacramento, C.A. – On Thursday evening, California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statewide mandatory stay order. All 40 million residents of California are ordered to stay home unless absolutely necessary to travel. The order was issued not long after a similar order in Los Angeles County.
The new orders are the strictest places anywhere in the country. Public safety and healthcare operations are exempt from the order. So are essential services such as grocery stores and restaurants offering takeout services.
The coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to cause issues across the country. Thousands of Americans are infected with the virus. Continued spread is expected in the coming weeks. Widespread lockdowns have been suggested, but not implemented until this order.
