Washington, D.C. – On Friday, President Trump announced in the coronavirus task force press conference that US deaths from coronavirus will be much lower than previous estimates. The initial estimates weeks ago were that millions could die, now those estimates are around 60,000. This change is indicated to have come from the distancing measures that the US has taken.
The announcement comes as the worldwide death toll passed 100,000. Worldwide, the deaths continue to mount as leaders continue to address the coronavirus crisis. The US extended the social distancing recommendations to the end of April in recent days.
Dr. Anthony Fauci indicated that more measures were coming in the future. Antibody testing has started and will help determine the spread of the virus around the country. This could aid with the determination of when to open the US economy.
