Washington, D.C. – The small business loan program as part of the coronavirus response package is now out of money. In just 2 weeks, the $349 billion dollar program was exhausted leaving small businesses around the country wondering what is next. Congress has been discussing additional funding for the bill as part of a next step in the coronavirus relief plans.
Republicans have argued for additional funding for the program as it neared its capacity. Democrats have been refusing to allow additional funding in a fight over the next relief step. Additional talks are scheduled on Thursday to attempt to negotiate a deal on the funding.
