Albany, N.Y. – On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that 13.9% of New York state residents had been or currently infected with COVID-19. Studies show that 21.2% of people tested positive for a blood marker showing infection at some point, indicating a 10-fold increase over previous studies.
The most intriguing part of this data reveals that the fatality rate of the coronavirus is likely lower than previous estimates. To date, the death rate in the Empire State due to the virus is 15,500. As lawmakers push for additional testing and fatality data, these figures are sure to lessen.
