Charlotte, N.C. – Democrats across the country continue to show a double standard as they come out in support of Joe Biden. The former VP has been accused of sexual assault by Tara Reade. To date, only a brief statement has been made from the Biden campaign about the allegations. Biden has successfully remained out of the public eye on the accusations. But will that last? It is expected that he may have to respond in the near future.
Evidence continues to mount in the case, while some media outlets have suggested people simply do not care. The accusations have caught the attention of several prominent Democrats, however. Many of them have made public statements in the past about these types of allegations. What’s clear, there’s a double standard on display.
One such person is Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D, Ny). Gillibrand said that she stands by Biden amid the accusations. She made comments about how Biden has stood for women and has denied the accusations.
Just 2 short years ago, Gillibrand delivered scathing remarks on the Senate floor about another sexual assault allegation. In that instance, it was a GOP Supreme Court nominee that the Democrats were fighting. At that time, she said she believed Blasey Ford. She suggested that the GOP did not take the claims seriously and it sent a message of unimportance to women.
What’s changed? The only obvious change is in the side of the accusation. Now, Gillibrand wants to pass on the FBI investigation that she called for. She wants to ignore actual evidence. But if you recall she believed someone that had no evidence. In her own words, this is a disappointing response.
She’s not the only one. Another person to support Biden is Stacey Abrams. Abrams, a failed Democrat candidate for governor of Georgia, is thought to be a potential candidate for Biden’s VP pick. She has openly denied a double standard in her stance on the two different accusations. In her comments, Abrams suggests that The NY Times did a thorough investigation and found the claims were not credible.
The NY Times is far from an unbiased investigative arm. At the time of the Kavanaugh hearings, Abrams suggested that the nomination hearing should be put on hold. This was at the time Democrats were asking for an FBI investigation into the matter. Something that Abrams seemed to support.
A Supreme Court hearing is a job interview for one of the most critical roles in our democracy; if there is even a hint of impropriety—let alone the credible allegations bravely brought forward by Dr. Ford—we should pause and thoroughly investigate them, rather than rush forward.

Another potential VP pick, Sen. Kamala Harris (D, Ca), has come out in support of Joe Biden. Last year, Harris made comments that she believed the accusers against Joe Biden. But apparently she has had a change of heart. She also came out in support of Joe Biden.
Harris was quick to call for an FBI investigation into Kavanaugh, calling him unfit and the nomination process rushed. She’s not doing that in this situation. She said that a thorough investigation was a constitutional duty int he Kavanaugh situation, but I guess that’s different with a Presidential candidate?
Hillary Clinton is another another name that comes to mind. On Tuesday, Clinton put her support behind Joe Biden for President. Clinton has not publicly commented on the Biden accusations, but she was not shy in sharing her opinion during the Kavanaugh hearing.
In all of these instances, there is a double standard on display. In the Kavanaugh situation, there was no evidence. It was simply a memory that had nothing to support it. There were no witnesses or any evidence shared.
Yet, in the case of the Reade accusations, there is some supporting evidence. She has a direct relationship with Biden, having been on his staff. She talked about the phone calls made to various news outlets by her family. Those have been shown giving further significance to her claims.
But there’s only silence from the left. The media will overlook the claims as Biden is their “hope” of beating President Trump. What is more important, justice or defeating Trump?
For Democrats, the answer is clearly President Trump. All of America should take note. Democrats claim to care, unless you are keeping them from power. Power is all that they are after.
