Charlotte, NC – Across our country today, we celebrate Mother’s Day. It’s a time to honor mothers and share how important they are to everyone. There’s one thing about a good mother, you can never replace them.
This is not a popular message in our day. Across our country, many will argue that it’s just as easy for a child to have two dads than it is to have a mom and a dad. It’s a sick and twisted view on how the family was truly meant to be.
I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage. Genesis 2 teaches us that this is one man and one woman. God never designed the perversion that is our current society. He saw the need for a man and woman, not two men or two women.
God designed men and women differently. You could say that it’s the wiring that is on the inside, but the design compliments each other so well. The nurture, care and love of a mother are something that is amazing. Not that men are incapable of nurture, care and love, but it’s just not like a mother.
For a daughter, a mother is an important figure that helps her develop her self confidence and image. Without a mothers care and love, it can lead to issues for a daughter throughout their life. For a son, the impact of a mother is just as important. Some of the same issues apply as daughters, but can also be shown in aggression, hostility and acting out in social settings.
Trust me, I’m not naive to believe that everyone has had a perfect mother child relationship in their life. Â Many mothers have been absent from their children. Some may not know who their mothers are. My heart goes out to those people on a day like today.
It goes out to them because of the two examples of being a good mother that I’ve had in my life. First, I was raised in a home with a loving Christian mother who helped me learn all the important things in life. The second involves my wife who is an amazing mother to our son. Honestly, I could never imagine having lived life without either of them.
The world tells you to achieve the highest salaries and the greatest job titles. They tell you that you have to work hard for greatness. I would agree that you do, but it’s not necessarily in the places that they would tell you.
The greatest and most challenging job title in the world is that of a mother. It’s not just any mother, but being a good mother. There is no salary and a one day appreciation is not nearly enough for what mothers around the world do each and every day.
Being a mother, in the technical part of the term, may not be all that difficult. Lots of people are mothers in a technical sense. The hardest working people I know are those good mothers. They simply cannot be replaced.
