Washington, DC – The LA Times reports that Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) is stepping down as the chairman of the Intelligence Committee. The change comes amid concerns about Burr’s stock trades after coronavirus briefings started. Burr has denied allegations of potential insider trading.
The LA Times also reports that the FBI has seized a cell phone while executing a search warrant at Burr’s office. There are multiple incidents that do not look good for Burr. We wrote a recent article that highlights some of those concerns.
The announcement came from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Burr said that he was stepping aside due to the investigation and it seems that McConnell supported that decision.
