Charlotte, NC – Across our country, we have seen riots for several nights in response to the death of George Floyd. The death of Floyd is a tragic situation that could have probably been prevented. Agencies from the Department of Justice down to the local police department are investigating to make sure that justice is served.
Rather than assuring that justice is served, angry mobs are taking to the streets in riots. Buildings across the country have been damaged and ravaged. A Minneapolis police station was set ablaze in the chaos.
On Saturday night, rioters clashed with the Secret Service. Rioters pushed over barricades and broke into the Treasury Department. The events ended with six people being arrested. Precisely what is the goal of these riots?
Rioting and damaging buildings does nothing to assure justice is served in the case of Floyd. It’s led to more deaths. One person died in a shooting around the protests as arsonists and looters have taken over the city.
Video of looters inside of Target taking items was shared across the internet. Yes, people are going into Target, stealing things, in the name of social justice. How exactly does theft create justice?

President Trump drew the ire of the left in calling these people in Minneapolis thugs. President Trump used the same terminology that President Obama did with looters and rioters in Baltimore, Maryland. The media continues to drive the protests without genuinely looking at the whole issue.
The officer had a pattern of behavior that was an issue. He should have given help to Floyd as Floyd asked for it, but he didn’t. Yes, he deserves to be punished, but this is not the first time it has been an issue.
Various news outlets reported that Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) failed to prosecute the officer during previous cases. The death of Floyd could have potentially been prevented years ago by Sen. Klobuchar. She failed to do her job.
It highlights the countless times that Democrats have claimed to support the black community, but they have failed them. Lip service does not help. President Trump reacted, involved the DOJ, and wants justice to be served. This is action, rather than lip service.
Now, we are left amid a situation where the media and Democrats continue to push an anti-police agenda. Rather than admitting that this officer was a bad cop and had issues, they seem to indicate that it’s every police officer who is evil. That’s simply not the case.
We have to make real change in our country and fundamentally reform how the law is enforced in America. We need accountability for law enforcement and accountability at every stage of our criminal justice system.

While the left drives this racial tension, law enforcement officers across the country are putting their lives on the line to defend life and property from rioters. These rioters, who claim to want justice, are instead causing more death and destruction.
As Americans, we are better than this. I have advocated for the right to protest many times. Protests mean you are taking a stand against something. In the case of these riots, they are merely standing for more violence and more death.
These events show us the mentality of many across our country. Rather than being concerned about things, they are only concerned with themselves. They do not care who they hurt or who loses their life. After all, its in the name of justice.
These events are sickening. For once, I can say that President Trump and President Obama were both correct. These individuals are thugs, and these actions should immediately stop.
The riots are hurting more people and destroying businesses around the country. This will not bring about justice for Floyd’s death. It will end with more arrests, families crushed, and lives changed forever.
