Charlotte, NC – On Tuesday, the StarTribune in Minneapolis reported that long-time manufacturer, 7-Sigma, would not reopen in the city. The business facility was burned during the riots, and the company is set to relocate outside the city. This will take 50 jobs out of the town as the owner said he could not trust the city to be able to protect his business.
It appears that this business is not alone. The Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, also said that it would take a ‘Herculean effort’ to keep businesses in the city to reopen after the violence. Companies like Wal-Mart and Target, experienced looting and damage amid the riots and protests in the city.
While the left will attempt to blame these businesses, it highlights several failures from the left. Over the past week, we have heard countless times how investing in these communities will lower crime and give the ability to decrease police presence. Here are some high profile investments in retail locations, but these Democratic-led cities abandoned them.
These leaders abandoned the businesses amid the riots. They allowed the looting and prevented the damages and loss. It’s not the business fault if they choose not to reopen. The business wants to confirm their employees and products are safe.
Merely writing a blank check to any community does not solve the problem. Eliminating the police will not solve the problem. If we want a real solution to the problem, we should remove the Democrat leadership. Their policies continue to fail their constituents.
These businesses should learn a painful lesson and move on. If the city fails to do their job in providing a safe place to conduct business, they should discontinue doing any business with that city.
Writing checks and giving away free things solves nothing. Defunding the police will not solve the problem. If we want to start fixing the problem, lets start at the top with their leadership.
