Charlotte, NC – Just a few weeks ago, everyone was encouraging riots and protests across the country in the wake of the death of George Floyd. The media and Democrats all took the time to march with protestors. Slogans were painted on the DC streets, and even Mitt Romney got into the action marching with protestors.
The mainstream media and the left were celebrating as citizens took to the streets to destroy businesses, property, and commit various crimes. In many instances, they violated their restrictive measures for social distancing. Not one single time was there a concern about the “deadly pandemic” that the country was facing.
That was until President Trump wanted to hold a rally in Oklahoma. President Trump is slated to hold a rally in Tulsa on Saturday night. This will be a hotbed for coronavirus spread according to the left. However, gathering in groups without any concern for safety measures in the middle of riots was not. Where was this concern for the past several weeks?
The media completely ignored coronavirus. They had an alternate message and mission during the riots. They wanted to push the anti-police narrative. They wanted to push the “defund the police” mission and support the Black Lives Matter movement.
The excitement over that seems to have worn off. President Trump has announced an executive order, and they can continue to attack Trump over that. Now, it’s time to turn attention back to his rallies and how they are a coronavirus concern.
On Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed in an attempt to stop the rally from taking place. In an article at NPR, they tried to draw the differences in the rally and the protests. A Stanford professor said there was no safe way to hold a rally. So I guess that protests that are violent and have no structure are even safer?
The Trump campaign is checking temperatures at the door; they are providing masks and will provide hand sanitizer to those in attendance. None of those measures are required in Oklahoma as part of their reopening plan.
But now the media is concerned about the coronavirus spread again. If Trump were allowing these people to burn buildings, destroy businesses, and loot, I guess it wouldn’t be an issue. It’s another excellent example of the liberal double standard.
Let’s be honest as the spread of coronavirus unnecessarily should be a concern for anyone. The campaign is taking measures to help protect attendees, but you cannot place everyone in a bubble expecting that they will never be exposed to the coronavirus.
We cannot expect our society to shut down and stay inside indefinitely. That’s the only solution the left has. The interesting thing is that it only applies if you are a conservative or want to help our economy.
If you want to work, run a business, or attend church, then you are contributing to the spread of the coronavirus. If you want to riot, destroying historical monuments, burning buildings and stealing flat-screen TV’s, well that’s fine. That helps push an agenda.
The double standard on the left continues to be pushed. It is not hidden from public view, but visible for anyone to see. It’s blatant hypocrisy.
