Washington, DC – On Monday, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the liberal side of the court in the Louisiana abortion law case. In a 5-4 opinion, the liberal wing of the court struck down the law. Soon after, the left began celebrating the victory, after they had been saying for months that abortion rights would be revoked by conservatives on the court.
Conservatives were hopeful that with the recent appointment of conservative Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, that a change may be in store for abortion. To their disappointment, Chief Justice John Roberts again sides with the liberal justices.
It really should not surprise us, however. You can note from the previous statement I said Roberts again sides with liberal justices. Numerous times Justice Roberts has sided with the liberal side of the court.
When the Kavanaugh hearings were taking place, liberals were shouting from the rooftops that this would give Conservatives a majority, and significant sweeping changes would take place on the court. I sat silently by listening to all their statements, knowing that this would probably not be the case. There was little evidence to support it.
Kavanaugh was confirmed on July 10, 2018, to the Supreme Court. Before this appointment, Roberts had already made numerous decisions that sided with the liberal side of the court. One major one being his ruling and writing on Obamacare in 2012.
Conservatives should have known long before this time that they could not trust Roberts. You can also look back at his appointment and gather some information.
Roberts was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President George W Bush. Bush, who was a Republican, was thought to be conservative by many, but he was far from conservative. Bush ballooned the size of government, was responsible for actions that led to the decreased freedoms of Americans, and recently proved his lack of being “Republican” by coming out in support of Joe Biden.
Any Republican that comes out and claims that they support Joe Biden, they are not really a conservative nor a Republican. I’m not saying that Trump is perfect and a model conservative Republican. He is, however, extremely far to the right of Joe Biden, who is becoming more socialist by the day.
So while the mainstream media and many conservative outlets will label Roberts as a letdown or failure, that’s just not the case. Roberts is simply proving who he really is.
Roberts is far from the conservative that he was thought to be. He is, at best, a moderate who will do nothing to slow the progressive movement as it is continued through the US legal system.
