Des Moines, IA – Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) has come under fire after a recent interview on CNN. It relates to the fact that Ernst once said that two deaths due to Ebola, under then-President Obama, was a sign of failed leadership. The CNN host immediately started attacking Ernst because she would not call the number of deaths due to coronavirus in the US failed leadership of President Trump.
Ebola and COVID-19 are two different infectious diseases. COVID-19 is easily transmitted and has a much lower death rate than Ebola. Of those who contract Ebola, over half die on average. It is also challenging to contract Ebola, requiring someone to be symptomatic for it to spread.
So the thought of Ebola spreading around the country would be part of someone’s wildest imagination. COVID-19, on the other hand, is quickly spread. It’s carried by asymptomatic individuals, and symptoms can range from mild to severe.
If someone contracts Ebola, they will know it. The symptoms will be present, and we can easily track the number of cases. That’s proven to be difficult with COVID-19, as large percentages of the population have tested positive for the antibodies without ever showing symptoms. It’s easy to see; there are apparent differences between the two.
The left would like you to believe that wearing masks and staying home will keep you from contracting COVID-19. That is not the case. Taking all the precautions in the world cannot 100% prevent you from contracting the virus. Take it from Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York, who was surprised in May when most of the new cases were from people who had been staying at home.
That does not suffice CNN, however. They are committed to anything that may attack President Trump. Especially when the data and the statements are misleading, as they are in the case of comparing Ebola to COVID-19, if we are going to talk about blaming Trump for COVID-19 deaths seriously, then we should back up and look at the Obama administration a little closer.
Thousands of people died during the Obama administration due to H1N1 and its outbreak. Sure, it was not as deadly as COVID-19, but if we are passing the blame, then Obama is at fault. Over 127,000 died due to accidents during the Obama administration, is he to blame for those as well?
Maybe you can see how asinine this argument is now. To blame Trump for a disease for which there is no cure, and there is no way to track, is crazy. This is not about the coronavirus response or failed leadership; there is a more significant issue that is at stake.
Democrats believe they have seen an opening to flip Ernst’s seat to a Democrat. It’s no secret that the Democrats crave control in the Senate. They want to complete their impeachment of President Trump. They want full control to destroy everything that is American and implement widespread “socialism” as they call it.
Ernst is in a general election matchup with a Democrat that is willing to fight for socialism. The “polls” have Ernst trailing by three as of early June. So CNN seized the opportunity to help a friendly socialist Democrat by trying to put Ernst on the spot tying her to Trump. It was a cheap misleading tactic, to say the least, but what else do we expect from CNN.
As with anything else that the Democrats and the mainstream media are doing, you have to look to the real reason. They hate President Trump, they hate America, and they hate anyone that might support freedom. Ernst is in the way of the Democrats and their socialist dreams. So CNN decided to take a shot at her to help her opponent.
The media is playing politics and controlling the message. Yes, coronavirus is real, and it can be deadly. So can corrupt media that controls a message to try to sway Americans to vote Democrat.
