The McCloskey’s deserve more than a pardon

St Louis, MO – On Friday, the Governor of Missouri, Mike Parson, suggested that he would grant a pardon to the McCloskey’s if they were charged due to their actions from June. The McCloskey’s are under investigation by a district attorney for using firearms to defend their home. The move came amid protests in St Louis, where protestors breached a gated community and entered their private property.

The district attorney investigating the couple is a Soros funded left-wing radical, who is more interested in supporting a social justice cause than defending the law. What else have we come to expect from the left? They seem to ignore laws unless it helps promote their cause.

The couple has every right under Missouri law to defend their property. Missouri has a castle law, which allows someone to use deadly force to defend life and property if they feel threatened. Given the violence that occurred in these “peaceful protests” across the country, they no doubt felt threatened and had every right to defend themselves.

The district attorney called their actions a “violent assault” on those practicing their first amendment rights. She has vowed to hold them accountable for their actions, but the couple acted within their rights granted by the Missouri castle law. Preventing them the right to protect themselves and their property would violate their 14th amendment rights.

Section 1 of the 14th amendment guarantees them the right to life, liberty and property, and equal protection of the law. In other words, these people had their right to express their 1st amendment rights, up until the point where it breached the rights of the McCloskey’s under the castle law and 14th amendment.

The district attorney seized the couples guns, which is a violation of their rights under federal law. Senator Hawley has called for an investigation into the district attorney for her actions against the couple. This couple deserves more than an ethics investigation and a pardon; they deserve their absolute freedom.

They were acting well within their rights as citizens of the United States and the state of Missouri. The radical left-wing attorney is simply seeing an opportunity to make a name for herself and a statement for the general public. Every single American deserves the right to defend their life and property if someone else threatens it.

The couple should not need a pardon. They should be testifying against those who destroyed their private property, trespassing while they were trying to enjoy dinner.

Our rights are what makes our country so great. You have the rights granted to you by the constitution, just like I do. I have no right to do anything that impedes your rights, just like you can do what you like, without impeding mine. Our cancel culture would like you to believe otherwise.

The dangerous move by the left is establishing the thought that if my rights offend you, then my rights no longer exist. The suggestion that the loss of rights comes when someone is offended is ridiculous.

This couple had the right to defend their property. Just like the protestors had the right to protest. The issue in this situation is not that the couple violated the rights of the protest. The protestors violated the rights of the couple by trespassing on their property.

Your rights under the first amendment do not give you the right to violate the rights of someone else. Their rights are not canceled because of your feelings or opinion. That is precisely what this attorney and the left are trying to argue, however.

While it’s good the governor has agreed to pardon the couple; the real issue does not change. The couple should not be under investigation or charged for practicing their rights. If anything, they should be recognized for standing their ground.
