Nashville, TN — With the final presidential debate of the 2020 cycle in the books, there was little doubt that President Trump thoroughly took Joe Biden apart. This includes repeatedly pressing him on both his and Hunter’s involvement in corruption. He also landed big blows on policy toward the oil industry, criminal justice reform, and immigration.
At one point, Biden found himself so flustered that he suggested the United States had a good relationship with Adolph Hitler before that genocidal maniac decided to invade Europe in hopes of conquering the world.
Right-wing media were not the only news outlets that suggested Trump got the best of Biden. If you lost a bet and were forced to watch CNN, you would see the solemn faces and desperate attempts to claim the debate was a draw.
Check this video clip out as CNN’s Jake Tapper and his permanent constipated face looks during this clip. If anything, Joe Biden’s rambling and attempts to meander and stumble upon a point was contagious!
But don’t take CNN’s word for it. Joe Biden decided he was going to chime in and basically admit he got spanked Thursday night in Nashville. The former Vice President said the following on Twitter Friday afternoon:
“A slight change of tone from the president for one night doesn’t cover up the lies he told. It doesn’t change the fact that over 220,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 on his watch. We can’t take another four years of Donald Trump’s failed leadership.”
So let’s break that down. The reference to “change in tone” is a clear admission that he knows the President was effective and came across well. He also knew this was a complete 180-degree approach compared to the first debate in Ohio.
President Trump was wise and took the advice of a lot of people who critiqued him after the first debate and utilized this during the debate prep in the run-up to the showdown in Music City, Tennessee, Thursday night.
That’s not because Biden didn’t deserve to get the horns, but because the best strategy against a doddering old guy like the former VP is to let him talk! And talk Biden did! After the first 15 minutes of the debate, the rest of the night was just brutal!
There is one line that I wish President Trump had said during their conversations about race. During this segment, President Trump said,
“Nobody has done more for the black community than Donald Trump. And if you look, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln, possible exception, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln, nobody has done what I’ve done.”
The former vice president misheard Trump’s remarks on Lincoln to which the president lapped on. Trump accused Biden and former President Barack Obama of ignoring issues of racial justice. The president added, “You’ve done nothing but the crime bill which put tens of thousands of Black men in jail.”
Biden responded by saying, “Abraham Lincoln over here is the most racist president we have ever had.”
“I am the least racist person in this room,” Trump said, touting criminal justice reform and opportunity zone bills that he signed.
Over the course of the debate, Biden would end up blatantly lying about Obamacare, perhaps the biggest falsehood he’s told in the campaign (see Joe Biden Told Many Lies at the Debate, but One Was Bigger and More Insulting than the Rest).
But perhaps the most damaging line was when Biden said he would phase out the oil industry by 2025, something that promises to cost him in several key swing states, including Pennsylvania. Never mind that such a suggestion is impossibly insane.
Trump: "Would you close down the oil industry?"
Biden: "I would transition from the oil industry, yes"
Trump: "That's a big statement"
Biden: "That is a big statement"
That big statement will lose Joe Biden the election. His plan is too radical and will destroy our economy! pic.twitter.com/UVYXm8MmUv

Biden’s excuse that he meant oil subsidies makes absolutely no sense! But that’s par for the course. When Joe Biden is challenged or in a situation where he is outside of his basement for longer than two hours, he begins to lose steam, slurs his words, short circuits, and becomes increasingly agitated when pressed. By the end of the night, Biden was completely vanquished. Had Trump put in this kind of performance at the first debate, who knows what the condition of the race would look like.
Regardless, things are coming down to the wire, and the President is now in striking distance. In fact, the Trump campaign raised a little over $26 million in less than 24 hours after the debate. His performance we that good! Steady, resolved, presidential, and assuaged fears that many in the US thought they couldn’t depend on him. The final debate proved that he is worthy of their vote and another four years as POTUS.
Ultimately, the scandals surrounding Biden and his family are having an effect. In the end, it was so bad that even Biden had to admit this time was different.
