AOC's Goya Boycott Backfires: Company CEO Thanks Her with "Employee of the Month" Title After Sales Soar

Charlotte, N.C. – On Monday, Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, the company’s “Employee of the Month,” after the company’s sales spiked in response to the progressive Congresswoman’s call for a boycott of its products earlier this year.

In July, AOC took to Twitter to publicly shame Unanue’s support of President Trump and called on Americans to boycott Goya products’ purchasing.

Oh look, it’s the sound of me Googling “how to make your own Adobo” https://t.co/YOScAcyAnC

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 10, 2020

“When she boycotted us, our sales actually increased 1,000%,” Unanue said on the show which is syndicated on some 20 stations across the country, “So we gave her an honorary, we never were able to hand it to her, but she got employee of the month for bringing attention to Goya and our adobo.”

A congressional leader publicly calling for a boycott of any private business is unprecedented. However, AOC lacks both judgment and logic. Despite having a degree in economics from Boston University, some would wonder if AOC’s (B.A.) was earned or honorary.

Since her election in 2019, AOC has purposefully called for ending businesses that would benefit the American people, especially her constituents of New York’s 14th Congressional District. Shortly after winning her bid for U.S. House, AOC participated and assisted in objecting to the nearly $3-billion in financial incentives the city and state had offered Amazon for the headquarters’ construction.

The new office and construction in Amazon’s 2019 proposed Queens location would have added to the workforce the company currently employs more than 3,500 people in New York City. After Amazon removed its bid, AOC again took to Twitter to rejoice and bask in her spotlight.

Since March, New York City closures have closed businesses, leading to massive unemployment. From companies large and small, layoffs have soared, leading to businesses and citizens fleeing The Big Apple for greener and less-restrictive pastures.

Meanwhile, companies like Amazon have kept their employees working; while recording record profits thanks to their dock-to-doorstep platform. If AOC and her liberal partners had refrained from interjecting, thousands of her constituencies and the citizens of New York City would have a job and desperately needed finances to ensure solvency during the socialistic shutdowns enforced by Gov. Cuomo and city mayor, Bill de Blasio.

AOC’s “Dem-Whitted” business degree isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. In just two short years, she has contributed to financially bankrupting local city businesses. AOC cannot understand basic economic principles. She was against $3-billion in company incentives and supported a $93-trillion plan in her Green New Deal.

One thing is for sure when AOC’s time is up as House Representative, she should take up conservative marketing. Thanks to her efforts and calls to boycott, companies like Goya continue to make record profits and keep their employees working. Thank you, AOC.
