Sacramento, CA — Things continue to look dim for California Governor Gavin Newsom. While he has attempted to maintain his elitist lifestyle, his actions have finally caught up with him. The people of his state are tired of him and it only took 2 years.
Newsom has kept his state under strict lockdowns amid the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, he was caught defying his own orders to attend a dinner party. It was an event that Newsom said he regrets and should not have attended.
Local businesses across the state continue to struggle. Californians are frustrated and they are not willing to simply sit by and wait for the next election. They have decided to take matters into their own hands.
New attempts to demand a recall election of Newsom are gaining traction. According to California news outlets, over half of the 1.5 million signatures needed. They have until March to obtain the remaining signatures.
The organizers predict that they need a strong infusion of cash in order to accomplish the feat. They state they need approximately $2.8 million in order to acquire the signatures necessary. The money would be used to place individuals out in the community to collect signatures.
Californians do not need to wait on the knock at their door. You can download the petition for signatures or donate to the effort by visiting the recall website.
This is not the first time that California has recalled a governor. The Secretary of State reports that since 1913 there have been 165 recall attempts across the state, with the majority being the Governor. The last successful Governor recall was in 2003 when Arnold Schwarzenegger won the election.
