Charlotte, N.C. – Since announcing his candidacy, Joe Biden has promised gun reform. No matter his use of labels or language, a Biden administration is coming for gun owners.Â
So, what can America expect?
According to The Federalist, Biden’s plan lists effectively every gun control measure ever proposed: banning “assault weapons,” banning “high-capacity” magazines, limiting the number of guns an American can purchase, holding manufacturers liable for the criminal misuse of their products, and many, many more.
Like his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama, a President Biden would utilize the power of executive orders to mandate federal agencies like the ATF and compel local and state law enforcement to carry out his new reform policies.Â
According to firearm attorney Ryan Cleckner, the first things a Biden administration will do regarding guns if given a chance are:
- Banning pistol braces
- Banning homemade firearms/80 percent receivers
- Banning online firearm and ammunition sales
Shortly after the first bans, and if he has the help of the “still-undecided” Senate, the next gun control measures will likely be:
- Banning “assault weapons”
- Banning “high capacity” magazines
- Requiring universal background checks
Last week, federal agents armed with a search warrant raided the company — Polymer80 — based on suspicion that it was illegally manufacturing and distributing firearms. Polymer80’s business is in manufacturing kits, and receivers used to create at-home and personal use firearms.
These frames or receivers, often called “80 percent receivers,” have not yet crossed the legal line into becoming a firearm. In most cases, the ATF has decided explicitly that the object is not “readily convertible” into a gun and is, therefore, a non-gun.
Under the Trump Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms has already signaled that banning pistol braces is their number one priority. Under Joe Biden, it is clear that this initiative would continue to grow.Â
Regarding online sales, Joe Biden and Democrats disagree with allowing legal citizens the right to purchase guns and ammo online. A firearm, once bought online, must follow the same rules as any other firearm transaction. A gun may not be purchased from a gun dealer online and shipped straight to someone’s home. It must be shipped to a local gun dealer, where the customer must appear to fill out paperwork and satisfy background check requirements.
Joe Biden looks to cancel e-commerce and the ability for legal residents to purchase guns and ammo online. Across America, the internet (especially with companies like Amazon) allows for competitive pricing and further creates healthy competition among small businesses and large “box” retailers.
The passing of the 1994 “Assault Weapon’s Ban” under President Clinton was the most recent measure by liberal-Democrats to ban certain firearms and magazine capacities. However, the ban expired in 2006, and since then, firearm and magazine production and purchasing have increased dramatically.Â
According to Cleckner, a Biden administration wants to ban detachable magazines that hold more than ten ammunition rounds. This effort will likely be easier for them than banning “assault weapons,” as they’ll try to argue that they aren’t affecting a gun ban at all.
The political “point and principle” for Biden and the Democrats is to classify any firearm that accepts more than ten rounds of ammunition as an “assault weapon.” Most firearms produced today would be immediately affected, and thus, leaving little or no purchasing options for law-abiding Americans. Â
President Trump and Republicans are hopeful that the new Conservative-controlled Supreme Court would intercept any Biden-led gun reform policies. It has been ten years since the Supreme Court issued its last big Second Amendment decision, and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. The city of New York was supposed to break the silence.Â
With the sitting of Justice Amy Coney Barrett, any Second Amendment infringing by Biden would most assuredly be met with conflict. However, with liberals poised to poison and control The White House and Congress, all eyes of law-abiding gun owners in America better observe Biden and his administration or risk finding themselves defenseless against Democrats.
