Charlotte, NC — Late in the evening Monday, the New York Stock Exchange announced that it no longer planned to delist Chinese companies. The NYSE had previously announced last week that it would begin delisting Chinese firms that were tied to the Chinese military. This was part of an executive order signed by President Donald Trump.
Many news outlets cited concerns about a tit-for-tat retaliation from China for the delisting. That would not be unexpected given their previous reactions to President Donald Trump’s actions against them.
Now, the firm will allow those agencies to continue to be listed and traded on the exchange. It is a direct move against the Executive order of President Donald Trump but also raises questions about a specific Senator in Georgia.
The CEO of the New York Stock Exchange is Jeffrey Sprecher, husband of Sen. Kelly Loeffler. Loeffler has already come under scrutiny for stock trades as part of the election cycle.
The question becomes is Loeffler really loyal to the conservative base, or is she simply saying things she needs to say in order to try and win the election?
So far, Loeffler has appeared loyal to President Donald Trump. She has said she would vote against certifying the election. She has stood in support of President Donald Trump and the claims of election fraud. She also supported his push for $2,000 stimulus checks for Americans.
But it seems like her husband may not be as supportive of President Donald Trump’s hard-line stance against China. To allow these companies to continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange seems to be an issue. These groups are making money off American investors, using it to benefit their Chinese organizations and most likely the Chinese military.
While the evidence is not clear at this point, this type of news right before people in Georgia cast their votes is a concern. The announcement came long after business hours and after President Donald Trump appeared at a Georgia rally to help Loeffler for Tuesday’s runoff election. The timing makes the story very interesting, to say the least.
