“Be My Apostles”: N.Y. Gov. Hochul Plays God in Bizarre Vaccination Plea

Starting to miss Cuomo yet?

NEW YORK — New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told parishioners at a Brooklyn church Sunday that God wants them vaccinated, and that the unvaccinated “aren’t listening to God and what God wants.”

The Washington Examiner reports:

“Yes, I know you’re vaccinated. They’re the smart ones, but you know, there are people out there who aren’t listening to God and what God wants. You know this. You know who they are,” Hochul said.

“I need you to be my apostles. I need you to go out and talk about it and say, ‘We owe this to each other. We love each other,'” she continued. “Jesus taught us to love one another. And how do you show that love, but to care about each other enough to say, ‘Please get vaccinated because I love you. I want you to live.'”

This came a day before Hochul, who assumed the Empire State’s governorship last month after the resignation of Andrew Cuomo, was to follow through with a policy from her predecessor’s administration, which mandates the vaccination of the state’s roughly 450,000 healthcare workers and the prompt dismissal of all who do not comply. Hochul later referred to said healthcare workers as replaceable and stated that she plans to employ members of the National Guard to fulfill their duties should the need arise.

Hochul has also denied the legitimacy of religious exemptions for vaccination.

Regardless, it’s interesting how the church goes from being an outdated, oppressive institution to being perfectly relevant as soon as it can be used by opportunistic Democrats for political leverage.

Needless to say, this is gross.

People’s religious beliefs, at a base level, are sets of values and principles which we assume to be bigger than ourselves. They transcend the political. Kathy Hochul doesn’t get to draw those moral boundaries for you, because they aren’t political tools. You don’t get to invoke Scripture because it suits your agenda, because it’s plainly manipulative, distasteful, and morally reprehensible.
