Los Angeles, CA — Dr. Christopher Rake was escorted out of his place of work at UCLA Health in California for refusing to take a COVID-19 shot.
In a video posted last week, Rake is seen being escorted by an unnamed man, who was wearing a face mask outside, who refused to answer Rake’s questions.
“This is what happens when you stand up for freedom and when you show up to work, willing to work, despite being unvaccinated, and this is the price you have to pay sometimes. But what they don’t realize is that I’m willing to go lose everything — job, paycheck, freedom, even my life for this cause,” Rake, an anesthesiologist, says in the video.
Echoing Benjamin Franklin who said, “we must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately,” Rake concluded his video: “Be well. United we stand. Divided we fall.”
Rake’s profile page is still available at UCLA Health’s website. The page shows that Rake has decades of medical experience starting with earning his medical degree in 2004 from Tufts University School of Medicine, an internship at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in 2005, residencies in 2006 at Kaiser and then in 2009 at UCLA School of Medicine, and he received his medical board certification in 2010 from the American Board of Anesthesiology.
A UCLA spokesperson said that “those out of compliance are subject to progressive discipline, including restricting access to work sites and being placed on leave,” according to the Charlotte Observer.
In August, Rake spoke at a rally saying: “They want to force a vaccination or medication or treatment into my body that I don’t want. So, they’re telling me, ‘Take the jab or we take your job.’ And I’m here to say no. That’s not ok.”
Rake goes on to say that while he has concerns with the COVID-19 jabs, this is principally about medical freedom.
“Our group, as much as we see the dangers in the vaccine, we want vaccinated people with us to. Do you know why? Because they deserve medical freedom. If they want to choose the vaccine, they should have that right. If they want to deny it, they should have that right. And guess what, many of them are going to wake up when the government says, ‘Hey, by the way, you need a third booster shot.’ And they say, ‘You know what, I felt pretty bad after that second one. Can I just pass?’ (The government says), ‘No, you are now out of alignment with what the government wants, and you cannot go to your child’s baseball game, you can’t go to the movie theater, you can’t go to the grocery store.’ They’re going to take everything away. So, even the vaccinated are going to come around, ok. They’re not the enemy,” Rake said.
