WASHINGTON — Republicans have stopped the Democrats attempts to pass their partisan voting rights bill in the Senate.
With the failure to pass the legislation, Democrats are expected to bring up a vote on altering Senate rules and to attempt to pass the bill via the filibuster.
According to Reuters, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) continues to maintain that he will not support such a move. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has also expressed she will not support such a move.
Sen. Maj. Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that he would propose changing the Senate rules to mandate a talking filibuster. Manchin has expressed that he would support moving to a talking filibuster.
The vote on the filibuster is expected to happen during the evening before the Senate ends business for the night.
