Los Angeles, CA — Anti-Defamation League — an organization that was created to fight the rise of anti-Semitism, but, in the last decade, changed its purpose to boosting its instances worldwide — has put itself in charge of editing Merriam Webster Dictionary. For the reasons yet unrevealed, they decided to update the definition of the word racism.
The definition emeritus read:
“Racism is a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.”
The definition emeritus does not attribute practice of racism to any particular group of people — and rightly so, as people of many races and nationalities have historically considered themselves superior to others. One example would be Arab culture — but there are many other examples as well. But when Silicon Valley moguls throw parties for the woke crowd, ADL wants to sit with the “cool kids” — so they fully embraced the idea that racism is solely practiced by white people.
The old new definition read:
Racism: the marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.
Little did ADL know that the memo would get to Whoopi Goldberg, who, several days ago, claimed that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race:
“[The Holocaust] is not about race. It’s not about race. These are two white groups of people.”
Whoopi’s implication was that racism is defined by white people oppressing people of color, and she got in trouble for that. As you may have noticed, all Whoopi did was define racism exactly as ADL just did. ADL, however, pretended they were as pure as the driven snow:
“No @WhoopiGoldberg, the #Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who they deemed to be an inferior race. They dehumanized them and used this racist propaganda to justify slaughtering 6 million Jews. Holocaust distortion is dangerous. #ENOUGH”
Wait a minute, ADL! All Whoopi said — just as you did — that The Holocaust did not involve prosecution of people of color. No book on Earth defines Jews as “people of color” — so what did Whoopi do wrong? You should be staging a protest at Disney to bring her back — but you are not. Instead, you go on your merry way of pretending to be “the leading anti-hate organization.”
Whoopi’s mistake
Racism is an idea or belief that one group of human beings (usually an anthropological race, but more widely, any other group of people with common physical characteristics) is superior to other groups. The Nazis created “a hierarchy of races,” the Aryan race being at the top. The Aryan race — physically fit Germans with light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes — was the physical characteristic that Germans considered superior. That did not fit Whoopi’s definition of racism, because Whoopi is confusing “race” with “skin color.” But the words “race” and “racial hierarchy” were explicitly used by the Nazis to justify the Holocaust.
Sadly, the Nazis were not the only group using physical traits to brutalize and destroy other ethnic groups. Here is an extensive list of ethnic groups that unleashed the most brutal forms of racism — ethnic cleansing and genocide — on other groups. Many of them did not involve skin color — both the brutalizer and the victim group had the same one.
Whoopi’s malice
Whoopi’s political malice was implying that hate crimes that don’t involve skin color are less morally reprehensible than skin color based atrocities. Whoopi’s abhorrent statement: “This is white people doing it to white people. Y’all go fight amongst yourselves,” is an illustration of malicious “moral hierarchy” that the left has constructed. Black people being “oppressed” by white people (in whatever form the left defines “oppression”) is at the top of the hierarchy. Historical war crimes by communist regimes, rampant black on black crime on the streets of Chicago, brutal attacks on law enforcement, or criminals running wild in Democrat ran cities, are at the very bottom of the hierarchy because they don’t involve white people “oppressing” minorities.
ADL, being controlled by the progressives, fully embraces that idea. Even though anti-Semitism is on the rise in America as never before, ADL does not view it as their main concern any longer, and instead has moved on to the woke issue de jour. The only time ADL remembers their original purpose is when they hear the code word: “The Holocaust.” Whenever it comes up, ADL screams something needs to be changed! And today, that something is — once again — Merriam Webster dictionary!
A day after the Whoopi whooper, ADL presents the new and improved (but interim!) definition:
“Racism occurs when individuals or institutions show more favorable evaluation or treatment of an individual or group based on race or ethnicity.”
ADL will keep you updated on the never-ending evolution of the word “racism.” Each new definition will be “scientifically based” on the statements of “renowned historians” on The View, “political scientists” on CNN, and “fact-checkers” employed by social media.
