The majority of Republican voters believe illegal immigration is a “direct threat” to the United States. However, these same voters do not want the U.S. to get entangled in Russia’s current military operation against Ukraine, per a new Associated Press-NORC poll.
As John Binder of Breitbart News observed that same poll found that these views found that nearly two-in-three Republican voters are “extremely or very concerned” about illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border and view it as a direct threat to their interests.
2021 was a record-breaking year for illegal immigration by allowing over 2 million border crossers and illegal aliens to break into the country through Mexico. Upon reaching the Southern border, these migrants either break through or are apprehended by authorities. In the latter case, illegal aliens hope to get released by US authorities so they can scurry into the American interior.
In the month of January alone, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security released over 62,500 border crossers and illegal aliens into the American interior. At the current immigration level, Biden is projected to import over 2.1 million border crossers and illegal aliens to the southern border.
In this poll, 67% of Republican voters believe that “China’s influence around the world” is extremely or very concerning to the US.
By contrast, the poll showed a lack of enthusiasm among Americans for the U.S. to get entangled in the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Only 22% of Republicans indicated that the U.S. should have a “major role” in this minor conflict. Approximately 76% stated that the U.S. have a “minor role” or “no role” at all.
American voters are clearly more domestic focused right now. Securing the border should be a major priority for the political class. Immigration, as a whole, is an incredibly important issue for economic, social, and national security reasons.
One of the most proactive ways to reduce Chinese influence is by getting tough on legal migration as well and drastically reducing, if not banning Chinese migration. By doing so, we can deny China the ability to build a fifth column in the US that could facilitate massive intellectual property theft and other surveillance and theft activities that could close the military gap between the US and China.
