The number of Americans who approve of Joe Biden’s performance in office now is lower than those who approved of President Donald Trump on his worst day.
Paul Bedard explained in his Washington Secrets column, “For the first time, President Joe Biden’s voter approval rating has fallen below former President Donald Trump’s worst-ever level.”
He opined that the “bumbling chief executive … can’t seem to get a break.”
The results come from Rasmussen Reports’ daily tracking poll, which put Biden’s approval rating now at 37%.
“Trump’s approval rating never fell below 38% in four years of Rasmussen polling,” he explained of the Republican who was attacked constantly by the press and the target of a years-long assault from Democrats who created false Russia collusion allegations against him and weaponized several federal agencies, from the Department of Justice and the FBI, to use against him.
“Maybe worse, just 65% of Democrats approve of Biden, another record low. It had been hovering in the low 70s,” Bedard reported.
He pointed out the White House has tried to reverse the polling plunge with staff shakeups and travel, “but nothing has worked.
“The nation’s dissatisfaction with Biden appears to be affecting everything in his world, from the stalled economy and surging inflation to the 2022 midterm congressional elections,” Bedard reported.
Under Biden, only 19% of Americans say the economy is good to excellent.
And regarding the coming midterms, the poll shows 48% of respondents would vote Republican and 40% Democrat.
