I guess Joe Biden has given up on getting WNBA player Brittney Griner out of a Russian prison? He says he’s still “working hard.” In all honesty, why should he get her out? She broke the law, and now she’s paying the price. I am not sure what’s so “unjust” about all of this. That’s what the Dems keep calling it — an “injustice.” Breaking the laws in another country is a big deal. Brittney had been traveling to Russia long enough now to know what their laws were. And it was her responsibility to know what the rules were.
She broke those rules and now she’s facing 9 years in a hard Russian labor camp… this is what happens when Joe Biden, of all people, is the guy holding your fate in his shaky gray hands.
Scary.
TMZ wrote a piece on Griner’s current state of mind and what’s coming up for her. Her wife, Cherelle Griner is worried sick about Brittney. She said she’s never heard her like this. She feels so defeated, hopeless, and like her life has no meaning. Cherelle says Brittney believes she will be forgotten in Russia.
The place could be best described as a tough, Soviet-style camp.
The inmates were all housed in two big army-style barracks – there were anywhere between 50 and 100 people in each one.
The barracks were built in the Soviet times – I guess in the 1920s.
All you’ve got inside are rows of bunkbeds, a night stand and a stool. There is also a toilet but you cannot use it as there is no central sewage system. We used to go outside to the so-called ‘hole’, sometimes when it was -20C in the winter.
In general, the climate in that remote swampy place surrounded by forest was just awful – cold winters and midges in the summer. In addition, there was a nuclear facility about 70km [44 miles] away from our camps.
The administration was very strict with us – rumours of beatings circled around the colony, although I didn’t witness any personally. More often there were fights between the inmates themselves.
Mass beatings are usually a feature of male camps – the so-called ‘black colonies’.
There was no torture in FGU IK-14, but anyone disobeying the prison rules would be punished by getting sent to “shiza” [Russian abbreviation for schizophrenia] – a solitary cell.
The daily routine was also strict – they would wake us up at 06:00, and we would have morning exercises five minutes later. We had breakfast at 07:00, then work until 13:00 when we would have lunch. There was more work after that until 16:00, followed by dinner. Lights out was at 22:00.”
That sounds really terrible. I feel bad that any American has to face something like that on a humanity level, but again, she broke the law. It sucks, but that’s how life works.
Biden recently sort of said he maybe, might meet with Putin, if Vlad comes up and asks to talk about Griner… maybe.
U.S. President Joe Biden said he would be open to meeting with Vladimir Putin if the Russian president was willing to discuss the release of imprisoned WNBA star Brittney Griner.
Speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday night, Biden said that would be the only reason he would talk with Putin at the G20 summit in Indonesia next month.
“Look, I have no intention of meeting with him, but look, if he came to me at the G20 and said, ‘I want to talk about the release of Griner,’ I would meet with him, but that would depend,” Biden said.
Wow. Sounds super promising, Joe…
I have to hope that at this point, Brittney has a much better understanding of all the good she had here in America, even though she fought so hard to have our beautiful national anthem banned at sports games. These spoiled liberals have no clue what real suffering is, but it looks like Brittney may be finding that out very soon.
I bet she’d give anything to hear The Star-Spangled Banner, right now.
