On Wednesday, the House of Representatives finally transferred the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate for trial. This was nearly a month long wait after the impeachment vote. After the unnecessary delay, the Senate can finally start with the impeachment to expose the sham inquiry and partisan process. But the Democrats already know this.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi was grinning from ear to ear as she signed the articles. The one who claimed that this was a somber event and even chided her own party for celebrating was ecstatic about the singing. Many pen mementos are seen in the video of the signing.
There was much speculation as to how long the House would wait to transfer the articles. It’s been a month, some speculated it could be longer. But why? It was an attempt to force their will on the Senate Republicans. The House refused GOP witnesses. Committees were rushing their investigations to conclude without evidence. The media sang the praises of the Democrats and have pushed the initiative publicly.
But they failed. Pelosi said it was to help evidence emerge. What evidence? If they were interested in evidence, they would have tried to bring it out in the investigations. Did President Trump do something that was questionable? Questionable of his character yes, but not legally. He committed no crime. Aid was not withheld. To date, there’s been no investigation. Trump referred to 2016, not to 2020 so the suggestion of trying to fix an election is not accurate either.
As we look at the potential Senate trial, what good would it be for the witnesses to be called? It would not do anything but create a circus. If Democrats demand Bolton, Republicans will demand the Bidens. If Democrats demand Mulvaney, Republicans will demand the whistleblower. The proof is right here, with Rand Paul saying that he will do just that. Democrats will lose a circus show with President Trump involved. Remember, the man is a showman by nature!
So Democrats have officially failed in their attempt to impeach President Trump. But JD, do you think anything today changed the outcome? Did anything in the holdout change the potential of the vote? No, but that’s not what’s important here. The important piece is that Nancy Pelosi gave up. No matter how hard she tried, Democrats and the media could not change public perception or Republican minds.
Public support of impeaching and removing President Trump is declining. Since December 10th, it has fallen from 48.3% to 46.9%. Republican support of Trump hasn’t changed either. Rasmussen has him at a 49% approval rating overall. Simply put, they did not move the needle and they failed. Now, Democrats are back at the starting gates of their President Trump problem. They hate him. Yes, Nancy Pelosi hates President Trump, but she will never admit that.
Democrats are so far out of touch with Americans, they simply do not understand that Americans appreciate President Trump. They love being first. Americans love a President that is fighting for them. Americans grew sick of apologies and were excited for winning. Winning bigly too, as President Trump would say. No, he’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. But he did beat Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats.
