Charlotte, NC — On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected the state of Texas suit against four battleground states in an effort to overturn election results in those states. The court refused to allow Texas and other states to make the argument that the four states changed election rules, thus swaying the result of the election.
The official response of the court was that “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections.” In other words, the Supreme Court argued that Texas did not demonstrate how the actions in the battleground states had any negative actions on the citizens of Texas.
Justices Thomas and Alito both dissented in the case stating they did not have the discretion to deny the filing and that they would have granted to file the bill of complaint. They stated that they would not grant any other relief outside of that bill of complaint.
No other justice’s names were mentioned in the statement specifically. The court was expected to release its response today after hearing the response from the four states yesterday.
President Trump had declared that the Texas suit was the big one and had signed on to the case as well. He had previously asked Ted Cruz to join and argue the case before the Supreme Court if they took the case. This ruling deals a blow to the Trump arguments.
Multiple cases are still pending in the court systems of the various states. Electors are scheduled to vote Monday and expected to award enough votes to Joe Biden to become President.
