It is the beginning of the end for the Kamala Harris campaign. On Saturday, news outlets reported that one of her top aide’s has abandoned the campaign to join Michael Bloomberg. In her resignation, the aide blasts the Harris campaign for multiple issues.
Once a leading contender, Harris has faded quickly to the rear of the pack. She is polling well outside the top candidates in the race. In October, her campaign laid off staff and slashed expenses in an effort to remain competitive. Since that time, she continues to poll around 4% in the Real Clear Politics averages. While it maintains her ability to appear on the debate stage, it hardly keeps her competitive in the race. Now, with the recent entry by Bloomberg she faces even larger hurdles.
Bloomberg took her aide that issued the resignation letter. Apparently, the Harris campaign requested workers move across state lines and then were quickly laid off without warning. The aide said that this is her third presidential campaign and she has never seen anyone treat workers so poorly.
The campaign manager, Juan Rodriguez, has quickly received the blame from everyone for the decline. Rodriguez led Harris’ Senate campaign in 2016. But the statements made by the former aide and statements by Harris on the campaign trail simply do not add up. It certainly makes me have a lot of questions. Let me explain.
First of all, Harris has long been an advocate for female leadership. I even recall an article earlier in the year bragging how she had females in leadership across her campaign. Yet, when she is claiming it’s time for females to be in the lead roles, she did not choose a female for her campaign manager position. Wouldn’t that have been a prime spot to set an example?
Second, Kamala Harris has claimed she is a fighter for Americans, for equality and economic justice. Yet, it doesn’t appear she is serious about that either. According to her platform, she said corporations have exploited workers through increasing power. Would this not be a time where her campaign flexed power to exploit a worker making them move, only to lay them off?
In the end, it’s just another example of how a Democrat has said one thing, but done another. It’s time for Kamala Harris to end her campaign. She claims to care about the workers, but in the end it’s shown she just cares about herself. If she cared about the worker, she would have stepped in and ended the mistreatment. Just another example of do as I say, not as I do.
