On Monday, June 3, 2019, the House Judiciary Committee announced its intent to hold hearings in their attempt to attack American Capitalism yet again and stated that they would investigate whether there was “enough competition in US Technology Companies.” There appear to be conflicting reports, NBC News noted on Monday that there was no specific company list – however, CNN Business states that the committee listed “Tech Giants” such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google. According to the Judiciary Committee, a “top to bottom” investigation would be underway to gauge the competition, political and economic influence of Silicon Valley’s finest – sparking new debate on (yet again) just how far the Democratic-led House would allow American businesses to grow.
Approved on July 2, 1890, the Sherman-Anti Trust Act was the first passed national legislation aimed at restricting monopolistic business practices. However, let us not lose focus on the REAL intent of the liberal-minded agenda. For the last decade, Left-winger, “Capitol Hill Crazies” have attempted to obtain the “secret sauce” from the technological elite – aiming to gain access to Facebook’s targeting platform (in response to the Russian Investigation), Amazon’s AWS platform and Apple’s iOS software. Countless legal maneuvers and subpoenas while denied, have infuriated the Left and set the stage for an all-out attack on American Business in the liberal agenda’s aim at full governmental control in every aspect.
In March, “Pocahontas” Warren, (D) Massachusetts called for the immediate break-up of Amazon, Facebook, and Google. While the Left would make it seem that these sentiments are shared across party lines, only a few Republicans have called for even the slightest amount of governmental investigation and increased oversight. Additionally, Jim Sensenbrenner, (R) Wisconsin, the ranking member of the antitrust subcommittee, “cautioned against jumping to conclusions” something that the rank and file Democrats cannot align with.
So, what does this mean to everyday Americans? I urge the citizens of this Great Country to scan the horizon and see the caution flags flying that indicate that something is swimming dangerously close to their “shore of freedom.” Americans are in danger – their desire to acquire products, services, and keep abreast instantly with their friends and family are in jeopardy. The Liberal Machine of American has routinely involved itself into American business – and with devastating results. Corporate bailouts, healthcare, and education are just some of the few of the Democratic-led fiascos that have tragically impacted every American. Increased taxation and health insurance premiums have resulted in the loss of livelihood and stability due to the Democratic approach to “leveling the playing field.” Every time the government involves itself into matters of human desire, a calamity of Biblical proportion is the result.
Should the madness ensue, here is what is in store for Americans and their want of “Smiley Boxes” and selfies. Liberty Loft contacted Houston Harris, Principal of FreshRobot in Hickory, NC was asked his professional opinion on the Liberal attack on Silicon Valley. He writes, “Currently, the world’s population is around 7,714,576,932 billion people. The United States boasts 324,459,463 million of this population. That put the U.S. at 4.2% of our planet’s total population. Now, keeping this in mind, consider the consequences of distracting ourselves with internal fighting, bullying, and breakup chatter over of OUR “Tech Giants.” These “Tech Giants” are national assets and should view as such. Over the past four years, Baidu’s annual revenue has grown on average by 16.7%, while Alibaba’s has grown on average by 25.2%. Now compare that to Google’s average growth at 21.9%. At this growth rate and with easier access to a much larger population pool – at this time Google is blocked or restricted for 20.7% of the world’s population – Google may find itself to be a small fish in a much larger pond. We must understand, the battle is not in our borders; it is outside. Do me a favor and raise your viewpoint a bit from just your backyard and look more to the horizon and read about the “Tech Giants” named Jingdong, Alibaba, and Rakuten. And maybe reread The World is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century.”
On a side note, my 5-year old is learning to speak Mandarin in preparation, not for China’s take over, but for her future and the inevitable transformation of our borders into something more transparent, more flexible, and more accessible through the lens of commerce and capitalism.”
So, with the national calamities of education and healthcare, do Americans want the political “know it all’s” on Capitol Hill to further regulate their social media communications and Amazon package deliveries? Let us not forget that the Liberal-agenda is aimed at illustrating that “government knows best,” and that it is the duty of the American legislative branch to both dictate and govern the citizens of the United States in every aspect of their daily life. The American economy has illustrated growth like never before – and that spells trouble for the Democrats and the social-Left. If Americans and the businesses, they “buy into” provide satisfaction to consumers without government involvement, the liberal-agenda finds itself rendered useless. Nancy Pelosi and her Liberal Lunatic counterparts cannot stand for such – for their “Know All” ideology is under attack – and they just cannot let that happen.
