New York, NY – Across the country, riots have taken over cities for a fifth straight night. Protesters took to the streets in Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Oakland, and more. At least one person died from a gunshot wound in Indiana.
In New York, a police cruiser drove into traffic, sparking a response from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The footage and her comments can be seen below.
NYPD officers just drove an SUV into a crowd of human beings. They could‘ve killed them, &we don’t know how many they injured.
NO ONE gets to slam an SUV through a crowd of human beings.@NYCMayor these officers need to be brought to justice, not dismissed w/“internal reviews.” https://t.co/oIaBShSC1S

Mandatory curfews were put into place in cities, which led to arrests of dozens across the country. CNN reports that over 70 were arrested in Atlanta overnight. Dozens of states have asked for help from the National Guard to help control the riots.
Stores across the country are being looted as well. Video has surfaced in cities showing looters breaking into stores such as Target, CVS, and AT&T stealing items amid the riots. Arrests have been made in many of the cases.
On Saturday, President Trump said that he would stop the ‘mob violence’ in the riots. In his comments, he said that he had spoken with the Floyd family. Across the nation, everyone has called the death a tragedy and called on the riots to give way to peaceful protests.
President Trump has said that Antifa has hijacked the protests across the country and has turned them into riots. Others have said that white supremacists are responsible for the protests. The violent protests do seem to be similar to previous actions by Antifa across the country.
While the riots claim to want justice for Floyd’s death, they are not accomplishing the goal. Businesses are suffering through the looting and the building damage. Multiple lives have been lost amid the protests. The violence is not solving anything.
