Washington, DC – In his latest interviews, Dr. Anthony Fauci seems to have changed his mind on the stay home orders. In a recent interview on CNBC’s Halftime Report, Fauci said that he did not want everyone to believe that prolonged stay home orders were the way to go. This comes after he gave warnings of coronavirus surges in April if allowed to reopen.
It is an interesting transition that comes not long after polls show Fauci is the most trusted person on the coronavirus. It also has been puzzling to some mainstream outlets.
There has been a lot of contention about the coronavirus in the past few months between the left and the right. The left has argued in favor of science, but the right has argued that the data has issues. Could it be that Fauci has finally had a change of heart?
I do not think that is the case at all. I do believe that Fauci has looked at the data, paying attention to the inconsistency. He has also looked at the progress in the vaccine and antibody studies. The US is indeed much better off than it initially appeared.
The writer at Forbes tried to analyze the situation. He looked at the action based on the nations mood, the science, or the politics behind the decision. I doubt it is any of those three.
The nation is still in fear over the coronavirus. In a recent poll, 75% of those surveyed said the country should reopen slowly. But in the same poll, 55% believe it is safe to go back to work. A return for most people to work would mean reopening the economy.
The writer at Forbes says the science still indicates we should be closed. The issue is that a good argument for science is not presented. The cases are going to increase because there is no immunity or a vaccine.
So the writer concludes that the decision is based on politics. That’s not a valid argument either. Dr. Fauci has refrained from becoming political throughout the entire pandemic.
Is it impossible to believe that Dr. Fauci has analyzed the data and concluded the stay orders are more hurtful than the virus?
While over 1.5 million people have contracted the virus, over 30 million have lost their jobs because of the shutdowns. Currently, over 96,000 people reportedly have died from the coronavirus. We know the numbers have been inflated and the actual total is probably much less. The shutdowns will lead to an estimated 75,000 deaths from suicide, addiction, or other mental health issues.
The stay orders made sense when we did not know much about the virus. Now that we know more, they simply do not make sense. The fear that surrounds the virus continues to be pushed by the left. Perhaps Fauci has finally come to the same conclusion.
I believe that Fauci will say more in the coming days. I highly doubt he has decided to become political at this point. I expect he will say something more similar to what I proposed above as it stays out of the political realm and maintains his expertise.
