The main stream media continues to shame Evangelicals that would support President Trump in 2020. They have been on the attack for weeks now, but the attacks are continuing to grow in number. I’ve written about this many times, but this time its a little different. As I sit and look through the more recent attacks, its clear that the main stream media is attempting its own form of voter suppression.
Yes, I said it. The main stream media is attempting to suppress the vote of Evangelicals. How do I come to this conclusion? Well, just look at the recent articles that have come out on multiple news outlets. Just today, ABC News ran an article that talked about how 2020 will test Trumps ties to Evangelicals. In the article, the writer suggests that supporting Trump does not match what Evangelicals have said about themselves since their “evolution into an active political group.”
Or this USA Today article where they run an article by an Evangelical that attacks other Evangelicals for supporting Trump. Two major publications tacking a jab at Evangelicals in the past 3 days, but that’s not all. Multiple news outlets have ran these types of articles over the past few months, with increasing occurrence. Why? To try to give Evangelicals cause in supporting President Trump.
I wrote a few weeks ago about how no one understands the support of President Trump from Evangelicals. They want to claim that those who claim to be religious should abandon President Trump on moral grounds. This could not be further from the truth, however. I said this before, but as a Christian I knew exactly what I was voting for with President Trump. I was not voting on my next spiritual leader, but someone who would guard my religious freedom.
Democrats throughout this election have proven they have no regard for religious freedom. Multiple calls to remove tax exempt status or restrict religious rights based on religious beliefs have been heard from the Democratic candidates. As they continue their calls, Evangelicals have heard the threats and have responded. As polls show, Evangelical support of Trump is very strong.
So the Democrats are doing the only thing that they can logically do. They are attacking Evangelicals over their religious beliefs. It was not enough to attack them over any beliefs on LGBTQ lifestyles. They must attack them on their support of President Trump. The divisive action has resonated well with other religious groups who do not support Trump.
Recently, a Republican anti-Trump group targeted Evangelicals as well over their support for Trump in ads. A line in the ad says “If this is the best American Christians can do, then God help us all.” Actually, we do need the help of God, but not for those reasons. Whether you believe it or not, the attacks on religious freedom are nothing to be taken lightly.
We had a President who was more interested in issuing apologies across the world than defending religious freedoms at home. Now, we have a President who went before the UN announcing religious freedom initiatives across the world. This is certainly a big change isn’t it? Conservatives across this country see the attacks on their ability to practice their religion without government interference.
So while the left would like to argue that Republicans are trying to suppress voters with Voter ID laws, Conservatives of all faiths should call out this media attack on Evangelicals. The media is working at all costs to discourage Evangelicals from voting and supporting Trump. Just because you choose to support Trump, it does not change your religious or moral beliefs. What’s next? Evangelicals are only allowed to work for Chick-fil-a and Hobby Lobby because of their beliefs?
