The Mueller testimony has come and gone and there is a lot of talk on both sides of the aisle. Earlier this week, we discussed the most likely outcomes here at the Liberty Loft and it appears that we were exactly right – nothing came out of the hearing that was useful leaving Democrats frustrated.
As we predicted, Mueller did not contradict his report in any way. Democrats have attempted to capitalize on anything Mueller said, specifically that Mueller stated he did not clear the President of any charges.
The fact is the Mueller report and his statements today do not support the statements by Rep. Nadler. Mueller did not indicate any evidence of obstruction in his report or testimony, simply that they were unable to prove the President committed a crime.
Mueller continued on and stated that his investigation was not hindered or stopped in any way. If it was not hindered with it would make it difficult to prove that President Trump was guilty of obstruction.
Various media outlets have jumped in to help the Democrats push the narrative that Trump is guilty of obstruction. By lunch, The Atlantic had already published an article stating that Trump was guilty of obstruction even if Mueller would not say he was. It’s the same narrative that Democrats have pushed since the release of the Mueller report, yet there is no proof to base their claims on.
In the end, Democrats accomplished nothing but wasting a day of taxpayer dollars for testimony that was released in a written report many weeks ago. The hearing did not accomplish anything to further their cause of impeachment and will end up most likely a 2020 setback.
There’s also the waste of money for the hearing. Back in 2012, The Hill published an article that said a congressional hearing costs an average of $125,000. If you figure 5% inflation, that would not be approximately $185,000 per congressional hearing. This Democratic congress is a waste of taxpayer dollars and a total failure.
