Charlotte, NC — In a new release, the New England Journal of Medicine recommends removing gender assignments on birth certificates. The new report was released on Thursday. The report suggests that gender assignment offers no clinical benefit to a newborn child.
The report goes on to state that assigning gender at birth could be harmful for intersex and transgender people. The writers suggest that the newborn should simply be classified as a “newborn sex” until later in their life.
The article argues that designating gender at birth indicates that sex is simple and binary. The argument is that the designation is more complex as a handful of people in every thousand identify as transgender.
Sex designations on birth certificates offer no clinical utility, and they can be harmful for intersex and transgender people. Moving such designations below the line of demarcation would not compromise the birth certificate’s public health function but could avoid harm.

The argument is to remove gender assignment in the interest of public health as well as the personal anguish that could be caused on someone that is assigned a gender with which they do not identify or relate. The Journal describes mental anguish that such a person must endure, which could all be remedied by eliminating gender assignment at birth.
The suggestions by the authors in the New England Journal of Medicine are ridiculous. There are clear differences between male and female. From the beginning of time, we have had two genders, male and female.
From the time a person is born, each gender produces and develops differently. It’s seen all throughout life as an individual develops. A person born as a female cannot simply state they desire to grow male genitalia.
This is not a check box option that can be decided whenever someone feels like it. You are either born male or female, just as science has designated from the beginning. It is just as God designed the human body to work.
Scripture teaches in Genesis 1:27 that man was created in the image of God, male and female. All throughout humanity, we have never considered the idea of optional gender identity.
As a male, your body produces testosterone in larger amounts leading to male traits. As a female, the same occurs with estrogen. In each instance, the two genders are separate, yet are given at birth without the input of the individual being born.
In healthcare, men and women are treated differently at time because of their bodies and their makeup. Individuals are treated based on their gender assignment at birth, because chemicals and medications respond differently to the genders and their bodies.
The New England Journal of Medicine has lost all credibility as a true medical leader. This “medical journal” is nothing short of extreme radical garbage. The concepts are an attempt to continue the radical transformation of our society and disrupt societal norms.
