Washington, DC — Several members of Congress have sent a letter to Christi Grimm, an Inspector General at DHHS requesting an investigation into the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) use of taxpayer dollars to fund research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). According to the letter, taxpayer funds were used to secretly support research at the lab and several representatives are demanding answers.
The letter says that while many denied the lab leak hypothesis, several outlets, including The Washington Post, have now accepted that this is a possible way the virus was released. The NIH director was mentioned in the letter and his role in supporting the WIV and attempting to deflect the attention from the controversial lab amid the coronavirus spread. He called the claims the lab was responsible “outrageous” in early 2020.
The funding for the lab is not a new story, however. Early in the pandemic, it was discovered that the NIH had been supporting the WIV, giving the organization millions. Dr. Anthony Fauci was an advocate of the organization and its controversial research.
In addition to the Director at NIH, Dr. Collins, Dr. Anthony Fauci has also dismissed the claims that the virus originated in a lab. It seems that Dr. Collins and Dr. Fauci would both be interested in attempting to cover their records given the new acceptance of this hypothesis.
The representatives are working on the idea that if the virus was a leak from the lab, as most everyone suspected, then essentially US taxpayer funds were utilized to create a virus that in turn has infected millions, taken over 500,000 lives, and decimated portions of the US economy. Not only that but that these NIH leaders could have coordinated their efforts to deflect the lab leak hypothesis, misleading many as they looked for the source of the virus.
The mainstream media deflected this story during the Donald Trump presidency as a conspiracy theory. The World Health Organization also helped deflect this hypothesis as it attempted to help China cover its tracks amid the outbreak.
Multiple Trump administration officials directly blamed China for the release of the virus. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had strong words in his statements that mainstream media worked tirelessly to discount.
