Sen. Amy Klobuchar attempts to save her reputation

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) shared statements on social media regarding charges in the case of George Floyd. Her comments came after the Minnesota Attorney General made the decision to elevate charges against Derek Chauvin. Chauvin was charged with murder in response to the death of George Floyd.

The new charge against Chauvin is 2nd degree murder. The Minnesota Attorney General is also charging the other officers in the case with aiding and abetting murder. Sen. Klobuchar made the announcement on Twitter.

For Klobuchar, the statement comes as she is trying to save her reputation. She has been mentioned as a potential running mate for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, but she has come under scrutiny amid the Floyd case.

Reports are that Chauvin had a history of complaints and bad behavior. According to CNN, there were 18 complaints against Chauvin, 2 having been closed with disciplinary action against him. While the details of the complaints are not public, there is at least a little bit of doubt here.

Klobuchar comes into the picture due to an issue with Chauvin back in 2006. The NY Post reports that he was involved in an officer involved shooting case, but she failed to bring charges. The Washington Post reports that Klobuchar routinely declined to prosecute officers involved in fatal encounters with black men.

The statements by the Senator are no doubt an attempt to help her image as she continues to pursue the VP nod from Biden. She has said that she has no intentions to back down from the VP bid, even amid the scrutiny.

Where is the accountability in this situation for the Democrats? They want to riot in the streets and criticize President Trump for his actions. Where is the response for Klobuchar’s actions.

Klobuchar gets a free pass because she’s a Democrat. The left neglects the shortcomings of their own. It’s all about protecting a reputation. A reputation that is marred by failure.
