Charlotte, NC — On Sunday, SpaceX completed their mission to return the United States to space flight. The mission was a complete success, allowing Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to spend just over two months in space. It is the first time that a private company sent anyone into orbit.
Splashdown happened at just after 2 PM EST. The Dragon capsule landed in the Gulf of Mexico just off the coast from Pensacola, FL.

The recovery of the capsule from the Gulf of Mexico went smoothly, and the intense temperatures of reentry were visible. Black marks were visible all across the outside of the capsule.
In addition to the Dragon launch, SpaceX has been launching satellites for the government and businesses across the world. The next scheduled crew launch is for late September, when a SpaceX Falcon9 rocket will launch another Crew Dragon capsule to the International Space Station.
