“I was left speechless when I was asked to perform!” Lovato posted on her Instagram.
Due to Biden’s request that people watch the inauguration from the safety of their homes, the show was already scaled back to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. Inauguration activities such as the parade and inaugural ball were moved to being held virtually.
The CEO of Biden’s presidential inaugural committee, Tony Allen explained in a statement, “Our first priority is safety-so while many of us will be watching safely from our homes, we are creating real moments of connection that highlight a new inclusive American era of leadership that works for and represents all Americans.”
In addition to performances by celebrities, the event will feature a mix of pre-taped and live appearances from people across the country, Politico reported.
“We have witnessed countless heroes this past year step up to the frontlines and serve their fellow Americans, so we are telling their stories, spreading their collective light, and celebrating the best of our country and its people with this prime-time program,” Allen stated.
Programming for the inaugural celebration will begin this weekend, with the inaugural committee holding a memorial for all of the people who have died due to COVID-19.

Republicans seem to have a struggle learning lessons. For four years, President Trump has taught them how the party can change its identity and move forward. Rather than learning, they put up a resistance. Some have suggested the only way forward is through a new party or through a new leader.
