Trump Walks Out of Contentious ’60 Minutes’ Interview

Charlotte, NC — After reports surfaced that President Trump had “walked out” of an interview with “60 Minutes’” veteran reporter Lesley Stahl Tuesday, President Trump tweeted a video of Stahl not wearing a mask after the interview, saying, “Much more to come.”

No Title

A few hours later, he upped the ante with another tweet saying:

I am pleased to inform you that, for the sake of accuracy in reporting, I am considering posting my interview with Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, PRIOR TO AIRTIME! This will be done so that everybody can get a glimpse of what a FAKE and BIASED interview is all about…

Apparently Trump’s team was smart enough to make their own recording of the interview, so they could call out any “fake news” arising from this interview.  Politico reported that CBS News confirmed that the White House taped the video, too, but “had agreed it was taping the interview for archival purposes only.”

If and when Trump releases the tape, brace yourself for an onslaught of, “But he didn’t hold to the agreement! He’s just wrong!”  Of course, CBS News could fully selectively-edit the piece to make it look like Trump was saying something different than he was saying, and they’d be okay with that.

Nope. We’re not playing this garbage game anymore.

Predictably, Trump’s already being tsk-tsk’ed by the legacy media, including that beacon of responsible reporting, the New York Times:

The spectacle of a president, two weeks out from Election Day, picking a fight with the nation’s most popular television news program began on Tuesday after Mr. Trump grew irritated with Ms. Stahl’s questions, according to two people familiar with the circumstances of the taping.

One person briefed on what took place said that Mr. Trump had spent more than 45 minutes filming with Ms. Stahl and her CBS News crew, and that the taping had not wrapped up when the president’s aides had expected it to.

So Mr. Trump cut the interview short, and then declined to participate in a “walk and talk” segment with Ms. Stahl and Vice President Mike Pence, the people said.

It appeared that Ms. Stahl’s approach did not sit well with the president.

Ya think?

After the interview, President Trump traveled to Erie, PA, for a rally where he did what Trump does going after Stahl:

“You have to watch what we do to ’60 Minutes.’ You’ll get such a kick out of it. You’re going to get a kick out of it. Leslie Stahl’s not going to be happy.”

Let Trump be Trump!

Will he release the footage? Who knows. If he does, I hope he releases it at the same time the “60 Minutes” interview airs, so he’s not accused of having his team edit the interview.

Ah, who am I kidding? They’re going to allege that anyway.
