Elizabeth Warren is facing new attacks now that she is the front runner of the Democratic Party. Warren, who now leads in most polls, has been able to dodge many of any attacks in the race so far. This seems to be changing, however.
Bernie Sanders took aim at Warren calling her a name that is absolutely horrific. Sanders called Warren a capitalist! Yes, the dreaded capitalist. In an interview, Sanders attempted to paint himself in contrast to Warren who he claimed was a capitalist. This no doubt broke Warren’s heart as the two had been competing neck and neck for who was the better socialist.
Now, Warren is facing attacks from other candidates as well. In a Wall Street Journal interview, Pete Buttigieg went after Warren. Buttigieg called on Warren to tell everyone exactly what would happen under her plan. He is an outspoken critic of Warren’s regarding her evasiveness. Warren continues to dodge questions of how she will pay for her proposals.Â
Many have suggested that these are just the first of the attacks that Warren will face. In this article, the writer suggests Warren should be prepared for the debate on Tuesday night in Ohio. Yes, Warren better be prepared. Bernie Sanders has a lot riding on this debate following his recent heart issues. Other candidates (Harris, Buttigieg, etc.) are in need of support as well.
Recent polls show Sanders is falling dramatically since his heart issues. While the article seems to be surprised by Buttigieg’s surge, it shouldn’t be surprising based on his fundraising totals. Buttigieg continues to raise money which allows him to compete at top-tier level.
For everyone else, is this their final debate attempt? Most likely. I expect that O’Rourke, Booker and others will struggle following this debate. Andrew Yang is another to watch as a strong debate performance could propel him into a better position.
In the end, everyone is focusing on Elizabeth Warren now that she’s the front runner. Warren will face calls to own her policy proposals. If she clarifies her position well, she could come out of the debate unscathed. If she struggles, it could open the door for Sanders to jump back into the mix.
